Exploring City Creek Trail

We have another great stretch of weather so I decided to drag Randy, Mom and Phoebe out to a trail we've never been on, City Creek Trail. It's near the end of Doll Baby Road, to the west of Payson.

We got there and of course,Phoebe was very excited to get out on the trail. First though, we had to take a couple of pictures at the trail head. Once that was done, Mom decided to stay near the car while we took Phoebe along for the hike.

We started up the trail a very gentle uphill on the side of the mountain. Pheobe was charging ahead of course. The trail is a single track with a lot of vegetation along the trail and at times growing into the trail. Long pants are certainly recommended as those plants quite often have thorns! This first mile of the trail has some really nice views. I can't wait to share this hike with the hiking club!

We explored the trail for a mile and turned back, the day was getting warm and a two mile round trip is just about all a chubby chihuahua can do. I took my fleece off for the trip back and Phoebe started lagging behind, slowing way down when we came to a bit of shade.

We cross a stream bed at the beginning of the trail and of course, Randy had to stop and get a couple of nice pieces of red Jasper, running with white quartz, very pretty.

While we were gone Mom had explored the road near the trail head, generally enjoying the scenery and nice weather so we all got our walks in today!

Soon I think I want to go to the end of this trail. It is supposed to join up with another trail, the Arizona Trail. I'll keep you posted.
