Groff Mountain

Took a hike today with my hiking friends Kathy and Gail, a new acquaintance, Burt and my hubby, Randy. Also Burt's dog and Kathy's neice's dog. Lots of tail wagging fun was had. No snow and about 40 degrees. A bit of a climb up Groff Mountain along Groff Creek then we were rewarded with a nice waterfall, maybe 20 feet high. Burt and Randy took lots of picks. Not too far upstream was another waterfall. Both waterfalls were in the bottom of a ravine so we had to pick our way both times down the ravine sides to the stream bed to get close to the falls. Of course, extremely steep climbs back up too. Anyway, about 2 miles in, we got to the end of the trail at an old beaver dam. We had a little lunch and came back. On the way back, we went back down the ravine to the upper falls and then just walked along the creek to the lower falls. We were rewarded with a small falls, maybe 10 feet high between the upper and lower falls, not to mention a nice walk thru the woods along a very nice stream. We were back at the cars by 1 and home by 2pm. What a great day out.
